The spiritual life we are cultivating in this body is the only life we are cultivating that will continue with us after this earthly life ends.
The communion and fellowship with God. The revelling in His presence. The rest, the joy and the peace.
So it raises the question: do we enjoy the spiritual life we have? What investment have we made in it?
You can have everlasting life and still not be living it.
The life that will never end is the life we are meant to be living already.
So how much investment have we put into it? It is a sobering thought.
Jesus said:
Our spiritual sight depends on our connection with God.
Jesus establishes that we must be born again to see the kingdom of God. But even after entering the kingdom, are we cultivating the spiritual maturity we need to perceive what God has made available to us?
You can be in the kingdom and still not see it.
Not experiencing it, not advancing it, and not benefiting from it as you ought.
The kingdom is relational. Our advancement of it, and in it, hinges on our relationship with the King and with other subjects of the kingdom. The first and second great commandments testify to this (Matthew 22:37-40).
Peter makes the importance of spiritual growth practical. In his teaching on adding to our faith, he warns that if we are not maturing spiritually, we are at risk of becoming blind.
This raises some hard questions.
Do we see the King clearly?
Do we fully perceive His kingdom?
Have we claimed all the benefits of kingdom citizenship?
Do we fear economic recession while belonging to a kingdom that is unshakeable, has no end, and does not have boom and bust in its vocabulary?
If our realm of operation and authority is limited to the natural, then we have not fully walked in the spiritual power made available to us through Jesus Christ.
Every benefit of kingdom citizenship is ours to claim.
In fact, in this age, you may not be able to survive without taking the mark of the beast if you have not cultivated the spiritual life and faith necessary to trust God beyond the systems of this world.
The faith required to live in these end times will demand a deeper relationship with God.
The shield of faith that quenches the fiery darts of the wicked cannot effectively quench anything if that faith has not been forged in the fiery furnace of trial and affliction.
And Peter reminds us:
The faith we will need tomorrow must be cultivated today.
It is time for kingdom citizens to realise their priesthood and kingship.
That business God has put in your spirit.
That gift you have failed to fully cultivate.
That call you have not fully answered.
It is time to pay the price!
It is time to ascend!
Just as God said to Jeremiah:
There are things God wants to show you, things you do not yet know. And without the wisdom and understanding you need for what lies ahead, you just might not make it through as you ought.
Priests and kings, arise to your sonship!
Invest in your eternity NOW!
Bask in the presence of the Most High God, because you are blessed and privileged to have an audience with the King.
“I have an audience with the King.”
